It's a proven fact that reading is a core activity in learning a new language. One of the modern language-teaching techniques has reading encrypted in its abbreviation - TPRS where 'R' stands for reading. There's no more effective way than reading to help a student think in Russian rather than translate his mother-tongue thoughts into Russian.
Our Reading Club Groups are split into the levels of Russian proficiency - from A2 to C2 and dedicated to some certain literary works. Each group accommodates up to 12 participants and is set to operate for a certain number of weeks - normally from 2 to 10 weeks depending on the nature of the literary work.
Participation in the sessions comprises of 2 stages - one week before the session, all the participants receive a pdf and audio files containing the full text to be covered along with the vocabulary and syntactic structures to be discussed at the session. At this stage, we encourage our students to get acquainted with the materials as close as their time allows to so that they'd have enough confidence in live discussions intended to activate the newly acquired language skills. These discussions are the second stage of the sessions.
Upon the successful completion of the participation in a Reading group, our students receive a digital certificate, shareable on all social media, to confirm and celebrate their achievement, i.e. reading a Russian literary work in the native language.
How does it work?
Currently, we run our Reading Club on a weekly basis, announcements for a new group are made on Ruenigma YouTube Channel, as well as on Ruenigma Facebook Page and our account on Twitter. To participate, you wouldn't need any technical preparations as the direct link to our room will be sent to your inbox 30 minutes before the sessions' scheduled time (no download required, opens on any device).
We'd be delighted to welcome you to our Reading sessions, please follow us on Facebook, Twitter, or YouTube, and it won't be long until our next announcement!
